It’s Family Day long weekend and that means things will be operating on a holiday schedule; so we take a look at what is open and closed in the region to help you navigate a little easier.
In the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge region you will find that the Kitchener City Hall building will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m, while Waterloo City Hall & Cambridge City Hall will be closed. Brantford City Hall and Hamilton City hall will also be closed.
Community Centres will be closed except for Bridgeport, Country Hills, Forest Heights, Kingsdaly, and Breithaupt Centre from 8 to 4, Forest Heights from 10 to 2, John Dolson Centre from 1 to 4 and W.G. Johnson Centre from 10am til noon.
If you would like to go for a swim Kitchener’s indoor pools are open but programs are cancelled. The Waterloo Swimplex will be open from 6:45am til 4pm.
If skating is your thing Carl Zehr Square is open from 9am til 10pm, and there will be skating at the WMRC from 9:30 until 10:50am.
Transit will be on a holiday schedule in Waterloo/Kitchener/Cambridge and Hamilton. No Transit in Brantford.
Public Libraries will be closed except Hespeler Branch in Waterloo region, Central Library and Turner Park branch in Hamilton.
Most waste collection will proceed as usual except in Hamilton which will push back a day. Waste sites will be closed.
LCBO and Beer stores will be closed.
All Mall’s will be closed. Most major stores will be closed or have modified hours.
As always on a holiday if you are planning on heading to a location it is best to call ahead to see if they will be open.
