Waterloo Region Temporarily Out Of Green Bins

With garbage collection changed to a bi-weekly service in Waterloo Region, many are switching over to the green bin or at least stepping up composting. But the region is now saying, they are temporarily out of green bins due to the increase in demand. Normally the region would hand out 6,000 bins a year, in 2017 alone, over 11,000 bins have been handed out. The Director of Waste Management says the demand for green bins is very encouraging and they are excited that so many residents decided to start using the program. Unfortunately for the regions supply, the demand has gotten higher. They gave away over 700 bins last Monday alone. The region expects more bins to arrive mid-March and early April. A limited number of the large “Containers Only” blue boxes is still available…… Ed
