Before You Turn the Oven On, Consider Alternative Ways to Cook a Thanksgiving Turkey

Starting with (1) For serious foodie credibility: the deep fryer. Moist meat, crisp skin, faster cooking time—this method ticks all the right boxes. The task can be done indoors (using an electric turkey deep fryer) or outdoors (with a propane cooker and turkey fryer pot) not recommended for stuffed turkey. (2) For hands-free cooking: the slow cooker. This “set it and forget it” method works like a charm if you have a large enough slow cooker and start the lengthy (up to eight-hour) slow-cooking process early. The result: succulent meat that requires zero elbow grease when carving. (3) For a taste of summer: Try the barbecue. If you can brave the chillier weather, your grill is a delicious stand-in for the oven. Think juicy turkey meat with a hint of smoke. Turn at least once to ensure even cooking. Remember, the colder weather may add to the cooking time. Microwaving your turkey is not recommended!!……….Ed
