Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim

If you’re like me then you’ve seen the image below more than a few times. I like to say I’ve won the chance to play again, mostly because it’s the only thing I ever seem to win, but it really means you’ve lost. Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim contest is one of those annual things that you just expect will come and go without you having gained anything from it; like Birthdays after you turn 18.

But I feel like I’m defying the odds at this point. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy their hot chocolate, so I don’t expect to win often. At the onset of the contest the official website listed the odds of winning one of the basic food prizes as 1 in 6. The official odds were listed as follows:

At the outset: the overall approximate odds in Canada of being eligible to win one of forty (40) 2017 Honda Civic Coupe EX-T vehicle prizes are 1 in 7,498,772. The overall approximate odds in Canada of being eligible to win one of one hundred fifty (150) 55″ LG 4K UHD TV prizes are 1 in 1,999,672. The overall approximate odds in Canada of being eligible to win one of twenty-four thousand (24,000) $100 CDN Tim Card prizes are 1 in 12,498. The overall approximate odds in Canada of being eligible to win one of the forty-nine million seven thousand five hundred thirty-one (49,007,531) Coffee & Food Prizes are 1 in 6. The overall approximate odds in Canada of being eligible to win one of one hundred (100) $5,000 CIBC Prepaid card prizes are 1 in 2,999,509

Now those odds will vary based on region and how many prizes have been claimed. But given that Youtube videos of people rolling hundreds or even thousands of cups have the odds at about 16-17% I figure 1 in 10 is a safe bet.

However! I’ve got to be approaching 20 cups this year and I’m still only seeing this!
