Tesla motors has added another item onto its plate by developing a heavy transport truck meant to continue their attempt to steer the economy away from fossil fuels with solar roofs, power storage, and electric vehicles. Company founder and head Elon Musk has been forced to previously delay the unveiling twice and is understandably excited tweeting this out yesterday.

Of course it is entirely possible that Elon Musk is a bit too excited about the release of the companies latest project…

Now, while there is certainly some excitement over the announcement at Tesla, there is some concern that the project will not be as successful as they could desire. The expected range is somewhere between 330km and 724km, compared to a diesel engine which can typically get 1,600km off one tank of fuel.
Combine that with Tesla struggling to mass manufacture their Model 3 sedan and it could be the company is biting off more than it can chew. This is a company which has also never posted an annual profit.
Still, it’s exciting to watch them try, reminiscent of a science expo strung out over the course of years. If you want to see what an electric big rig looks like you will have to wait up as the announcement takes place at 8pm PT/11pm ET.
