Eleven Tall Ships are coming to the Hamilton Waterfront this summer for a magnificent display you don’t want to miss. They are gathering for the Tall Ships Regatta, an exciting transatlantic race of 7,000 nautical miles taking place over the course of five months in six countries. They will, as part of the guest port program portion of their trip, stop in more than 35 Canadian Ports.
The ships will gather on Lake Ontario near the entrance to the Burlington Bay Canal on Friday, June 30 for a Parade of Sail around Hamilton Harbour beginning at 2:00 p.m. with all ships docking at Pier 8 at 4:00 p.m.
Hamilton City Mayor, Fred Eisenberger, said “I welcome opportunities to highlight our Waterfront and bring citizens down to the harbour for unique experiences. To view the Tall Ships Parade of Sail on June 30 will be a very fitting tribute to the Canada 150 celebrations.”
If you’re looking to see the ships or watch the parade some vantage points to do so include Pier 8, Bayfront & Pier 4 Parks, York Boulevard Bridge, Burlington Canal and Fisherman’s Pier, Eastport Drive, and LaSalle and Bayshore Parks in Burlington.
The Tall Ships Parade in Hamilton is part of the Canada 150 celebrations. It is another in a long line of fantastic events you can participate in as the celebration continues all year long.
