Summer’s Flying By! Make the Most of this Last Weekend in July!

1. Ohsweken:  Grand River Champion of Champions Powwow.   Experience the excitement of centuries of culture as dancers from across North America compete to become the Champion of Champions.  Dancers and singers representing every major North American native cultural group dressed in their finest regalia will be performing.   The event takes place in the open-air, at Chiefswood Tent & Trailer Park, on the grounds of the former Estate of the Mohawk Poetess E. Pauline Johnson, at the Six Nations of the Grand River Community.  Today and tomorrow.

2. Hamilton: Dusk Dances Festival.  For the fifth year, HCA Dance Theatre features professional dancers from Hamilton and across Canada to perform for hundreds of families as the sun sets at Bayfront Park. Before the show at 6:00pm, there will be free dance workshops. The festival kicks off nightly at 7:00pm with a musical performance by Steel City Rovers. Saturday and Sunday: Bayfront Park.

3. Kitchener: Rock and Rumble.  In it’s 7th year, don’t miss the “must attend” summer event for motorcycle enthusiasts and concert goers alike. Enjoy a free concert, food trucks, craft beer, live boxing on King Street and motorcycles! This years free concert features 80’s Canadian rock icons Honeymoon Suite, featuring hits like New Girl Now, Burning In Love, Wave Babies,and Love Changes Everything. Saturday: 5PM-11PM Carl Zehr Square

4. Niagara-on-the-Lake: TD Niagara Jazz Festival.  Take a drive, pick up fresh produce at a roadside stand and then enjoy intimate indoor and outdoor venues in the heart of Niagara’s stunning wine country. You’ll enjoy the finest Canadian and internationally-acclaimed jazz musicians by way of spectacular concerts, wine, craft beer, and culinary packages. Saturday and Sunday: Niagara-on-the-Lake.

5. Brantford: Hot Rod Kings and Vintage Wings.  The Brantford Flying Club, a nearly 90 year old flying club based out of The Brantford Airport is hosting its 2nd annual vintage car and aircraft show. Come enjoy vintage cars, historical aircraft on display, local live music, vendors, food trucks, and a beer tent. The event is free and open to the public and available to all ages. Bring your own vintage cars and aircraft and display for them the day! Saturday 10-4PM.
