A Stoney Creek restaurant which claims to have Hamilton’s best tacos has been open and closed a few times this month over health and safety concerned. Ole Gourmet at 174 Hamilton Regional Rd 8 was first closed on May 17th after four people came down with salmonella from food prepared there.
Since then it was re-opened for a few days before being closed again after another case was reported and an inspection found 3 of 10 samples tested positive for salmonella contamination.
Salmonella can often be mistaken for other ailments as its symptoms usually include fever, chills, stomach cramps, diarrhea, and sometimes vomiting. There is occasion however where individuals can become seriously ill from the bacteria.
If you have symptoms or ate at the restaurant from May 4th onward you are advised to see a medical professional; such as a clinic, nurse practitioner, or a doctor. Also if you have symptoms you should drink plenty of fluids and do not prepare any food for others.
