Winter returns with a 15 cm snowfall today and tonight.
A seemingly benign cold front and associated weak low is arriving over Southern Ontario today as winter returns to the area. The frontal zone is forecast to become active as moisture combined with sufficient instability will generate an appreciable snowfall. Snow will gradually develop across the regions throughout the day. The snow will become heavier this afternoon and evening before tapering off overnight.
Snowfall amounts near 15 cm may be expected in some locales within the warned regions.
Motorists and commuters should plan for challenging road conditions for the commute this evening, and allow extra time to reach their destination.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
