Region Snow angels

Our community is full of “Snow Angels,” kind-hearted neighbours and volunteers who go out of their way to help people with health issues or limited mobility by clearing their driveways and sidewalks of ice and snow each winter. These angels help neighbours meet their responsibilities as homeowners by removing ice and snow from their sidewalks after each snowfall. You can be a Snow Angel! All you need to do is keep your eyes open for those in need this winter, and lend a helping hand whenever the snow flies. Tips for Snow Angels

Helping someone in need shovel their driveway and sidewalk is a kind gesture, but please remember to take precautions for your own health and safety too.

Here are some helpful tips:

Stretch before you shovel

Wear layered clothing to stay warm

Use an ergonomic-shaped snow shovel to help reduce back pain

Space your hands on the shovel to increase leverage

Lift with your knees, not your back

Clear ice and snow as soon as possible to prevent build-up.

After removing snow, apply salt and/ or sand where necessary
