Proposals sought for Cambridge Rocketship

Home Concept Property Management is looking for a new home for a Cambridge icon. Home Concept, in partnership with New Horizon Development Group. is redeveloping the site of the old Satellite Motel, at 195 Hespeler Rd., and is now accepting requests for proposals for the iconic rocketship that has sat in front of the property for more than 60 years. The partners are inviting bids from individuals or businesses that would like to move the rocket to another location in Cambridge. The general manager of Housing Cambridge says they want to do their best to ensure it remains a landmark in Cambridge. Proceeds from the sale of the rocketship will be used to help offset the costs of building the 33 affordable housing units that will be part of the two apartment buildings that will be built on the site. Home Concept is the non-profit development arm of Housing Cambridge, a local provider of affordable housing. Sealed bids will be received at the Housing Cambridge office until 3 p.m. on Oct. 10. Bidders must cover the cost of disassembling and moving the rocketship as a minimum bid. They must also state the location where they intend to move the fixture……Ed
