The City of Niagara Falls is inviting people to come celebrate their becoming a Bee City! What is a Bee City you ask? According to the Bee City Canada website “A Bee City is part of a North American movement to support pollinator protection. Bee City communities support collaboration and establish and maintain healthy pollinator habitat within the municipality or First Nation’s boundaries.”
That means more fresh blooming flowers, healthier local produce, greener space, and more honey! If you still want more information then you are invited to join them as Shelly Candel, Director of Bee City Canada and Renee Delaney from Small Scale Farms talk about the importance of bees and their effect on our environment.
Then you can watch Mayor Jim Diodati accept the designation from Bee City Canada. The ceremony will take place at Fairview Cemetery on Stanley Avenue. Which is home to Niagara’s only green burial site and houses thousands of pollinator wildflowers. It will take place on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
