National Service Dogs Looking for Local ‘puppy raisers’

Want to open up your heart and home to some furry companions? National Service Dogs wants to hear from you. You can help a very good cause and fill your home with some tiny ‘do-gooders’ by becoming a volunteer ‘puppy raiser’ with National Service Dogs. NSD has a litter of 11 Golden Retriever puppies, and they need homes by October 19th.  The young pups are all named after famous artists, and they’ve been fully vetted and vaccinated. Rochelle Barber  Communications Coordinator with National Service Dogs says “A puppy raiser is probably the hardest and most wonderful, rewarding volunteer experience you’ll ever have. You’re responsible for training a puppy from about 8 weeks old until they’re 16 or 20 months old. You help train and guide them through their first year of life before they go into their life and job as a Service Dog.” She says the puppy will be your new ‘sidekick’ as well, and you’ll need to take them everywhere – including work, vacations, or just to run errands. You won’t be in this alone though – as NSD offers weekly training sessions and monthly outings……Ed
