It might have taken 54 years for Mary Poppins to return to the big screen but it sounds like it will take a lot less time for another adventure with the famously magical Nanny. Mary Poppins Returns has already drawn more than $260 million at the box office and Director Rob Marshall confirmed in a chat with UK’s The Sun that another film is already in the works. “It is early stages but I will say right now that there were eight books, so there’s a lot of great material still to mine. That’s what we worked from, those incredible eight books of P.L. Travers. So, you know…” Marshall said.
According to the article Emily Blunt will also be returning as the Practically Perfect titular character. Rob Marshall also suggested that the franchise could simply continue much as Star Wars or the Bond films do.
