There was some drama Sunday night in D.C. when the Washington Capitals hosted the Blue Jackets in Game 2 of the NHL Eastern Conference quarterfinals – but it didn’t really have anything to do with the action on the ice.During the warmups, the Capitals’ Brett Connolly tried to give a little girl a puck but it was swiped twice before she finally got it.It’s clear from the start that Connelly intends to give a puck to the small girl banging on the glass. But, as soon as he tosses it, it’s snatched up and handed to a boy on her right. So, Connolly tosses another puck. This time, the same man grabs the puck and gives to the boy on her other side. It’s honestly a little enraging. Who is this man that keeps giving the puck to the boys? Is he their dad? Does he just think boys like hockey more than girls? Is he oblivious to Connolly clearly mentioning that the puck is intended for the little girl? Does he just think Connelly will keep tossing pucks all night? He didn’t seem to see the girl’s heartbroken face after she lost out on the first puck. The story has a happy ending though, as Connelly finally tosses a third puck that makes to the girl. Never has a hockey fan been so happy, especially one who is rooting for the Capitals.
