It is World Rabies Day on September 28th and the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society, in partnership with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, is encouraging animal owners to keep their communities rabies-free by having their animals vaccinated against the disease.
They are doing this by having a low-cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinic for cats and dogs on Wednesday September 26th from 5pm until 8pm and Saturday September 29th from 10 am until 1pm at the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society, 250 Riverbend Drive, Kitchener, ON. These are limited windows and wait times are to be expected; though the cost for a rabies vaccination is $25 and it is $25 for a microchip implantation, or you could get both for $40.
There have been some 418 recorded cases of rabies in Ontario since 2015, and a simple and effective way to prevent the spread of this disease is to keep cats and dogs vaccinated, and in Ontario, it’s the law.
