Google’s Project Jacquard

Not happy with how their Google Glass project didn’t take off as they expected and still wanting to give cell phone users a way to interact with their device in a way that keeps their heads up; Google has come up with and developed Project Jacquard.

Project Jacquard is their attempt to integrate controls for a blue tooth paired device into the fabric of clothing. So far they have chosen Denim as the fabric, a jacket as their first model, and Levi’s as the designer.

A reporter for the BBC got his hands on the jacket for during a brief interview which you can watch here.

It looks like the wearer will have to memorize a couple gestures to activate a few features such as playing music, getting the time, or determining how long until they reach their destination.

While Google Glass didn’t take off because people were put off by how it made them look Google seems to think people won’t have an issue with looking like their signalling someone to steal third just to answer their phone.
