Florence Could Be Category 5 By Landfall Thursday/Friday

Forecasters say Hurricane Florence’s top sustained winds have decreased slightly.

However, with 215-kilometre-per-hour winds, the U-S National Hurricane Center says Florence remains a dangerous Category-4 storm, and is expected to approach Category-5 status on Thursday.

One forecaster described the size of Hurricane Florence as “staggering”, adding cloud cover will easily cover several states as it approaches land.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for parts of Virginia and North and South Carolina.
