Fallon Surprises Graduating Parkland Students

Jimmy Fallon turned the 2018 Graduating Class of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School into his personal “Tonight Show” audience.

The late-night talk show host delivered a surprise commencement speech for the graduates less than four months after the deadly Parkland high school shooting killed 17 students and staff.

“Today you’re graduating from high school. You should feel incredibly proud of yourselves,” he told students. “That doesn’t mean you should rest on your laurels — or your Yannys” — playing on the latest strange internet sensation.

“Some of you will grow up to hear ‘Yanny’, some of you will grow up to hear ‘Laurel,’ but the most important thing for you to know is that neither of these things will matter by the end of the summer,” he teased.

Fallon, 43, shared a video from the commencement on Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations Marjory Stoneman Douglas Class of 2018! You are not just the future – you are the present. Keep changing the world. Keep making us proud,” he concluded.
