Environment Canada has issued another Special Weather Statement for stretches of Southern Ontario, yesterday it was air quality, Today it is a heat event.
The affected areas include;
- Burlington – Oakville
- Halton Hills – Milton
- Mississauga – Brampton
- City of Hamilton
- Brantford – County of Brant
- Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
- St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region
The statement reads as follows:
“The first heat event of the season is setting up for today and tonight for portions of Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe Area.
A warm and humid air mass is expected to move into Southern Ontario today. The daytime maximum temperatures are likely to reach the low thirties with overnight lows near 20 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will be lower on Tuesday with daytime highs expected to remain below thirty degrees.
These conditions pose a health risk when you are not used to the heat.
Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults; infants and young children; and people with chronic illnesses.
You are advised to 1) drink plenty of cool liquids before feeling thirsty; and 2) keep cool by dressing for the weather and spending a few hours each day in a cool place.”
It’s going to be hot today. Take care to not over exert yourself and don’t take a chance with your body, heat stroke is no joke, stay cool; stay hydrated.
