1) Hamilton: Stars On Ice. With 25 Olympic medals in its illustrious history, Canada is a perennial global powerhouse in figure skating. The 2018 Canadian Olympic Figure Skating team might be among the greatest the country has ever seen. The 2018 tour cast of medal contenders includes seven-time National Ice Dance Champions Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir; nine-time National Champion Patrick Chan; and five-time National Pair Champions Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford. 2) Brantford: Move with the Beat Competition. This is the first competition to combine dance, circus and aerial acrobatics. Studios from Toronto to London and surrounding areas compete. Categories include, aerial acro (hoop, silks, trapeze etc), acrobatics, contortion, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap, lyrical, musical theatre, song + dance, traditional etc. Come check out this fun filled family event that provides career opportunities for the competitors. 3) Port Dover: Can You Dig it? This sixth annual game show extravaganza delivers an entertaining evening of unpredictable hilarity, as audience members compete for fabulous prizes on adaptations of classic game shows. Past events have included versions of Lets Make a Deal, The Family Feud, Match Game, The Newlywed Game and The Price is Right. The show is organized and performed entirely with local talent; including individuals who have a developmental disability. Questions are prepared in advance, but otherwise, there is no script and anything can happen! Saturday: 7PM Port Dover Community Center. 4) Kitchener: Pet Expo. The 2018 KW Pet Expo will be the largest pet consumer show in the Waterloo Region where you can learn about pet health care by some of the best and brightest within the industry. You will also be given the opportunity to browse the 100+ vendors for pet related products and services or sit and enjoy one of the many events. 5) Hamilton: Doors Open. From historical houses to modern marvels of construction, Doors Open showcases the buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure and cultural landscapes that shape and define our communities. Featured this year are sites in the North End Neighbourhood where Hamilton’s West Harbour waterfront is in the midst of transformational change. Visit 13 new sites and find parrots, a joiner (woodworking), churches that grew, an Inukshuk, Queen Victoria’s permission to use the word “royal,” and one of Hamilton’s first knitting mills.
