Is Dried Fruit Actually Healthy?

Any dietitian will tell you when it comes to fruit, always go for the freshest. But it’s also easier to purchase dried fruit. A registered dietitian in Toronto says dried fruit is a great source of fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants just like any other fruit. A 1/4 cup of dried fruit is still considered a serving of fruit, according to the Canadian Food Guide. One study of 13,000 individuals found people who eat dried fruit within limits weighed less. So when is it unhealthy?. Since it is dehydrated, the sugar [and the] the calories are concentrated. And some varieties of dried fruit are loaded with sugar. Packages often have sugar added in addition to all the natural sugar. And because it’s dehydrated you may be eating more than you think, so limit yourself to just a handful at a time. To be on the healthy side, make your own…..Ed
