Canadians at the Olympics! The Good and the Bad (so far)

First the good:

1) All 4 Canadian snowboarders – Max Parrot, Tyler Nicholson, Sebastien Toutant,  and Mark McMorris, – qualified Friday night for the slopestyle final this evening (8PM)

And there’s more!

2) Canada’s women started strong in the opening heats of the 500m short track speed skating. 3 time Olympic silver medallist Marianne St-Gelais  blazed to victory in her heat; Kim Boutin also qualified for the next round. The quarter-finals get under way on Tuesday.

Meanwhile in Curling…

3) In the Canadian mixed doubles John Morris and Kaitlyn Lawes have clinched a semifinal berth. Morris and Lawes have won 5 straight after opening competition with a loss to Norway.

And the not so….

4) Short track speed skater (Men’s 1500m) Charles Hamelin was not able to defend his Olympic crown in the men’s 1500m. Meantime, Samuel Girard finished in fourth.

5)  Canadian speed skaters Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the women’s 3,000m.
