Boulevard Basketball Nets Get Summer Reprieve in Cambridge

As city staff look into possible changes to the boulevard bylaw, complaints regarding basketball nets won’t be enforced. That’s the direction council gave city staff in the wake of at least two incidents that have raised concerns about the rules. Potential changes is expected in September. Under the current bylaw, nothing more than 20 centimetres or 8 inches tall is allowed on the land between the road and the sidewalk. The standard height of a basketball net is about (10 feet). That rule has come under fire following a bylaw enforcement order for a Husson Place basketball net to be removed. The net has been secured into the curb for about 27 years…… Ed
