The Blue Jays are wrapping up a series against the New York Yankees this afternoon, it’s a series that saw the Yankees clinch a playoff spot Yesterday, they still have a shot at the division title as well, while the jays continue to struggle. While not mathematically eliminated yet the Jays chances of making it into the post season are incredibly slim, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still put on some entertaining baseball.
If you missed Friday’s game you missed a heck of a performance from Ryan Goins who not only managed to score his second career Grand Slam, but also pulled off a play that is seldom, if ever, seen in major league baseball.
The Hidden Ball Trick.
It was straight out of the movies, on a great catch from Jose Bautista, Goins faked the throw in and hid the ball in his glove, Todd Frazier shifted his feet and for just a moment both were off the base and that’s when the tag and the call from the Ump ended the 3rd inning. Incredible. The Jays would win that game 8-1.
It’s unlikely Ryan Goins will be able to get away with that play again in his career but a little bit of fun makes for an an entertaining game.
Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees 1:07 pm EST, Sunday September 24th.
