Artificial Intelligence Is Improving Daily. Many Didn’t Know They Were Talking To A Machine

Imagine answering the phone at your restaurant and take a reservation for the caller.  Except in this case the caller is not human.  The technology is getting so good many can’t tell they were having a conversation with Artificial Intelligence.

It’s a sign that artificial intelligence may end up being too smart for our own good. This week, Google showed off its new AI assistant _ one that sounds like a human. But when it did _ the AI helper was so lifelike, the people receiving the calls didn’t know they were actually talking to a robot. Google is touting its digital voice assistant as a device that can handle some of more tedious tasks like making dinner reservations. The AI technology even speaks with pauses and “ums” and “mmm-hmms” to sound more human. AP
