Adidas Ultraboost Shoes Made from Ocean Plastic!

More than eight million tons of plastic is dumped into oceans every single year and now some environmentalists believe that there will be more plastic than fish in the sea by the year 2050.

Adidas and their environmental partner, Parley for the Oceans,  is bringing awareness to this issue by turning some of that plastic and making it into wearable not to mention stylish, sneakers.

Last year, the sports brand released three new versions of its UltraBoost shoe, all made from ocean plastic.

It has already sold one million pairs as of 2017, which is a huge accomplishment considering the goal at first was to just make one million pairs of the shoes.

Each pair  is made from 11 reused plastic bottles, (they come in men’s and women’s sizes) and  the laces, heel linings and sock liner covers  are all made from other recycled materials.

Parley for the Oceans and Adidas have also collaborated to make other products such as tank tops, which are made from yarn that features Parley Ocean Plastic that’s created from recycled waste and leggings that are made of fabric that features Econyl regenerated yarn.
