Adam West Dead At 88

Actor Adam West has died at the age of 88. The man best known for playing the caped crusader Batman in the 1960s ABC TV series and the 1966 film. He began acting in 1959 in films alongside names like Chuck Connors, The Three Stooges, and Paul Newman. His career spanned seven decades. He has been remembered quite a bit by those who knew him or worked with him but perhaps none more than actor Burt Ward who played Robin aside him in the 60s.

“This is a wonderful man who I’ve spent 75% of the time on this earth working with, who has been a pleasure, just amazing talent, a great father, a great family man, a wonderful human being, just a lot of fun and I’m going to miss him incredibly. In fact it’s very difficult to really believe that the end has come,” Ward told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Others who have dwelled within the batman universe have also expressed their regrets at his passing including the most recent incarnation of the Dark Knight; Ben Affleck.

Star Wars actor Mark Hammil who has voiced The Joker many times in animated fashion also paid his respects on twitter.

Adam West was no stranger to voicing animated characters as he played Cat Man on children’s show Fairly Odd Parents.

He also had occasion to play himself; even a slightly altered version as he was in animated show Family Guy as Mayor of Quahog Adam West

Twitter was so inundated with messages from celebrities and friends that posting them would be too much. But one that needs mention is the one on his own twitter account posted by his family.

Adam West was married three times, and had six children. He died on Friday, June 9th, in Los Angeles after a short battle with Leukemia.
